  A monograph about the identity politics in the Soviet-Finland border region, Sortavala (in USSR), was published as the eighth issue of Slavic Eurasia Papers. The author, Alexander Izotov, is a PhD candidate and researcher at the Karelian Institute, University of Eastern Finland, with which UBRJ works in closer cooperation.
